VP & General Manager

The VP and General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the line of service, including profitability, strategic direction, rapid expansion, staffing, operations, customer service and satisfaction, and matrix management to the shared services that directly impact the preceding. The VP and GM is a P&L owner and is accountable for achieving prescribed business unit and company objectives in regard to cost, productivity, leadership, customer service, profits, investments and growth. Establish a five-year growth plan that encompasses site selection, structure, staffing and economic model aligned with the corporation’s goals. Create a structure of focus and accountability which the line of service goals can be achieved. Establish and implement key metrics and key performance indicators Participate in GENCO marketing and sales efforts, including planning new account strategies, prospecting for new accounts, making sales calls, generating positive word of mouth, developing, approving and quoting rates, negotiating contracts, and closing sales. Develop and recommend annual operating budget. Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters. Plans, forecasts, and manages staffing levels effectively within the business unit and across the enterprise

Qualifications: A degree in Logistics, Business Management or other related discipline. 15 plus years of management experience in a transportation logistics environment with at least five years in a freight brokerage environment. Three (3) plus years experience implementing continuous improvement programs. Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels, in support of our customer relationships; demonstrated self-confidence, particularly with client relationships; strong relationship building skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, teammates, customers, and the general public. A proven track record of mentoring and developing promotability with direct reports and subordinates. Expert knowledge level of at least one TMS, and the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
